Acupuncture

Practitioner: Vicki Creek

AcupunctureAccording to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body's energy, (known as `qi') moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels (called meridians) beneath the skin. Acupuncture, which uses fine needles inserted into points along different meridians, attempts to stimulate the body's own healing responses and restore natural balance. The flow of qi can be disturbed by a number of factors, including your emotional state, anxiety, stress, trauma, poor nutrition, infections, - even the weather!

Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of illnesses and problems including arthritis, asthma, anxiety, back pain, migraines, sciatica, and indeterminate aches and pains. An acupuncturist will attempt to improve the overall well-being of the patient, rather than concentrating on the isolated treatment of specific symptoms. It is generally regardedAcupuncture as a safe treatment for all, although pressure, rather than needles may be used for babies and children. Acupuncture is also helpful for people trying to overcome addictions to substances such as nicotine, alcohol, food or drugs.
