My
interest in homeopathy began during my pregnancy with my first child in
1975. A friend who was studying wanted a pregnant woman to treat so I
became his `guinea pig'! I was so impressed by the gentle, permanent change
in my health (mental, emotional and physical) during this treatment that
I `converted' my approach to health from then onwards. By the time that
I had two children and was living in a remote farmhouse in Mid Wales I
decided that I needed to study homeopathy in order to be able to treat
my own children (there were no practising homeopaths in the area then!).
I began a three year course of study in Devon, one w/e a month. When I
graduated I had a third child!
By this time I realised that there was an increasing need for a qualified
homeopath in the area so I set up my clinic in Llanidloes in 1984. Local
demand led to me working once a fortnight in a friend's home in Llandrindod
Wells from 1985, and later in the Rock Park Clinic that was set up there.
The same friend then moved to the Lleyn peninsula and invited me to come
to North Wales once a month. When she moved I transferred my practice
to Sarah Foskett's clinic in the High Street which has now moved to the
Harbourside Clinic.
From 1997-'99 I became a grant holder with the Joseph Rowntree Charitable
Trust which enabled me to deepen the exploration of my own personal journey
towards reconciliation and forgiveness. I have shared this inner work
through writing, broadcasting, teaching and most recently a Home Office
project on Restorative Justice in prisons.
This time as a grant holder has deepened my understanding of the healing
process within myself. Homeopathic treatment enables this process to happen
so that we can work towards the expression of our fullest creative potential
in a way that is indeed gentle and permanent.
